PARIS, June 2 (Reuters) - Renault (RENA.PA) could face prosecution in France over faulty engines as a group of customers plans to lodge a criminal complaint against the carmaker next week, the group's lawyer said on Friday. A Renault spokesperson said the company had been providing technical support and financial help to affected customers. "The Renault Group never stopped and continues reviewing demands that it is receiving," the spokesperson said. "Support demands that could not be addressed have all been carefully reviewed and an answer has been given," Renault said.

REUTERS/Mike BlakePARIS, Feb 6 (Reuters) - Nissan (7201.T) and Renault (RENA.PA) on Monday unveiled details of their redesigned alliance, with the Japanese car maker committing to buy a stake of up to 15% in Renault's electric vehicles unit Ampere. The alliance junior partner Mitsubishi Motors (7211.T) will also consider investing in Ampere, the companies said in a statement. Renault will transfer 28.4% of Nissan shares into a French trust, making the two more equal partners in the alliance. Sources close to the matter said the agreement aimed to make the alliance freer and more balanced for the next 15 years. When it does sell, "Nissan would benefit from a right of first offer, to its or the benefit of a designated third party."

PARIS, Jan 18 (Reuters) - Renault (RENA.PA) group sales in 2022 fell by 5.9% to 2,051,174 vehicles, marking a fourth consecutive annual decline after capacity constraints and supply chain snags, the company said on Wednesday. The group, which is in the middle of a turnaround, said its order book in Europe was at a record level of 3.5 months of sales. A day after publishing a 9.4% decline in 2022 sales for its flagship Renault brand, it said that had been partly offset by the performance of its low-cost brand Dacia, which posted a 6.8% increase in sales. It said on Tuesday that the Renault brand, which accounts for two-thirds of group sales, was the third European brand for electrified vehicle sales behind Toyota (7203.T) and Tesla (TSLA.O) with 228,000 units sold, an increase of 12% from 2021. But its executives have acknowledged that global price cuts announced recently by Tesla were an issue that Renault - like rivals - would have to contend with.

Carmaker Renault issues 210 bln yen bond

PARIS, Dec 22 (Reuters) - French carmaker Renault (RENA.PA) has issued a 210 billion yen ($1.6 billion) bond that will mature in December 2026 and carry a coupon of 2.80%, it said on Thursday, adding this highlighted its appeal to Japanese investors. "The final orderbook amounted to close to 300 billion yen, underlying the high confidence of Japanese retail investors in the Renault Group strategy as well as its ongoing transformation," Renault said. Earlier this month, Renault Chairman Jean-Dominique Senard, said he remained confident about the outcome of talks with its Japanese partner Nissan (7201.T). Renault wants Nissan to invest in a new electric-vehicle unit it plans to spin off as part of a major overhaul. Nissan wants Renault to sell some of its roughly 43% in the Japanese company to put the two carmakers on more equal footing, Reuters has previously reported.
The French automotive giant says it's targeting carbon neutrality in Europe by 2040 and globally by 2050. The Renault Group is working with French utility Engie on the development of a geothermal energy project at the automaker's Douai facility, with the collaboration set to last 15 years. The plan centers around taking hot water from a depth of 4,000 meters, or more than 13,100 feet. According to Renault, this water will be used to help meet the Douai site's "industrial and heating process needs from 2025." "In summer, when the need for heat is lower, geothermal energy could be used to produce carbon-free electricity," it added.
The tie-up with Geely comes as Renault fleshes out plans to establish an EV spin-off called Ampere. According to Renault, France-based Ampere "will develop, manufacture, and sell full EV passenger cars." This was because, Pieton argued, it created "a world-leading supplier of ICE and hybrid powertrains with around 19,000 employees in the world, covering 130 countries." "Manufacturers need to be flexible in their powertrain offerings according to market needs — which differ across the world." The U.K., for example, wants to stop the sale of new diesel and gasoline cars and vans by 2030.
PARIS, Nov 8(Reuters) - French car maker Renault (RENA.PA) said it aimed for an 8% operating margin by 2025 thanks to a plan to split its combustion engine activities from its electric vehicle business, though such a plan still needs the go-ahead from its alliance partner Nissan (7201.T). Renault, ahead of a long-waited investor presentation on Tuesday, set the 8% goal for 2025, with this then raising to more than 10% in 2030, from 5% expected this year. On one hand, it is aiming to revamp its alliance with Nissan and convince the Japanese automaker to invest in a new electric car unit called Ampere. But details have been sketchy so far, and Renault's statement on Tuesday morning only said discussions with Nissan were ongoing. REUTERS/Aly SongBEIJING/TOKYO, Nov 7 (Reuters) - Nissan Motor Co's (7201.T) concerns about technology transfers have complicated its partner Renault's (RENA.PA) plans to sell a large stake in its gasoline-engine business to China's Geely (0175.HK), three people familiar with the talks said. Nissan's concerns about technology rights have also been one reason why it has yet to reach a preliminary agreement to invest in Ampere. Renault has a 43% stake in Nissan while the Japanese automaker has a 15% non-voting stake in Renault. People with knowledge of the talks have said the two sides have been discussing a reduction in Renault's stake in Nissan, potentially to 15%. Uchida also said Nissan wanted to see a “fair treatment” of its interests in any new partnership Renault strikes with Geely.
